Rejected yet again by the Australia Council for a grant. Year in year out I apply and year in year out I get knocked back. It doesnt seem to matter that Ive published 11 kids books, a novel and poetry and short stories in journals such as the Southerly, Edinburgh Review and Pheonix Educational. What seems to matter is an ability to write applications. I obviously dont have this skill. Youd think Id be used to the rejection by now, but for some reason this particular one has had a really demoralising affect on me. I dont plan on putting myself through this humiliating and soul destroying process anymore. The thing I hate the most is that it has turned me into a whinger and I hate that. But stuff it, I need to rant. Having said that I do wish to congratulate and offer best wishes to those that were successful and I do genuinely mean it. I can only imagine the elation you feel.
