“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all - TopicsExpress

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (2 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NRSV). These words, though, sometimes sound hollow to our ears. This especially is so when life’s circumstances make rejoicing, praying, or giving thanks impossible or at least a farce. Even so, God’s desire is that we rejoice, pray, and give thanks. By our doing so, we will discover “LIVING THE JOY-FILLED LIFE.” My sermon for December 14 is based on 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. This sermon, available in audio format on youtube at youtu.be/Zr9ywIOIBho, follows the playing of one stanza of “Joy to the World” by a clarinet, trumpet, and organ trio, and the reading of the Prayer of the Day and the Second Reading from 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24.
