It’s where the Humanist Union Navy Corps trains its elite soldiers, the Echelon, in preparation for the defense of its realm against myriad alien threats. Teenagers Brynn Seelig, Hiram Kiel, and Will Koenitz find themselves accepted to this prestigious institution to train to be the best of the best, along with many other kids, both friendly, and antagonistic. Brynn finds herself at odds with her instructor, Helios, and believes that she won’t succeed, until fate chooses her to pilot an antiquated suit of battle armor. Soon, she finds herself amidst a web of intrigue as Helios suddenly takes her under his protection and tutelage. But one thing seems beyond her ability to control: the armor’s alien programming, known as the Streamer, which seems to know future events before they happen. As dark, half-forgotten forces emerge from the jungles of Cyerbii to launch an assault against the Union, Brynn and her friends are drafted into a war that they aren’t ready for. But the most insidious threat to her survival is the Streamer’s ability to integrate with her own mind, manifesting her dark past, and threatening not only her relationship with her friends, but also her sanity. For all that fate has given her, Brynn must make a choice: to reconcile her internal struggles and survive the greater conflict around her…or die trying, broken in both body and mind.
