Release Date: 24th July, 2014 FIDA NIGERIA CONDEMNS TWIN BOMB ATTACKS IN KADUNA The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, condemns the twin bomb blasts that occurred yesterday the 23rd of July, 2014 at Isa Kaita Road and Kawo part, Kaduna state killing many innocent citizens, and calls on the Federal Government and security agencies to intensify their continuing efforts to curb these acts of terrorism and take all necessary actions to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators of these dastardly acts. FIDA Nigeria is appalled with the rate at which human security deteriorates in Nigeria, and socio economic rights of the people gradually depreciates as more markets and properties are wasted. FIDA bemoans the exposure of Nigerian women, children and other vulnerable groups to violence, insecurity, want and fear, as a result of the excesses of the insurgent groups. FIDA Nigeria notes that this latest attack was masterminded on the 100th day commemoration of the kidnap of over 200 school girls in Federal Government Girls College, Chibok, Borno State, by the same dreaded boko haram group, suspected to have committed the twin bomb blast of yesterday, 23rd July, in Kaduna. FIDA Nigeria wants to use this opportunity to remind the Federal Government of its promise to return the kidnapped girls safely back to their parents, and hope that this promises are still fresh in the mind of the Government as Nigerians are waiting to see it come to pass. FIDA Nigeria understands that the Federal Government and Nigerian military are committed to arresting the insecurity situation in Nigeria, but hopes that more drastic and proactive measures could be deployed to ensure that more lives and properties are not wasted. FIDA Nigeria is committed to the defence of women, children and vulnerable groups in Nigeria, and would not relent to speak up against this insecurity waged especially against these groups, until sanity is returned to the society. FIDA Nigeria commiserates with families whose loved ones were involved in yesterday’s gruesome attack and enjoins every Nigerian to join hands in fighting this insurgency. FIDA Believes in ‘UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL’ and notes that Nigeria is the only country we have, so we must stand together in fighting this ugly trend posed by the boko haram group.
