Relentless Mission Almost Complete. Operation Relentless is almost over. This is the first year since 2005 that I have not been to the Southern Ocean. After 9 years I am forced to sit this campaign out but I am happy that the ships and operations are in good hands with Captains, Chakravarty (India), Hammerstedt (Sweden) and Myerson (USA) commanding their ships under the leadership of Bob Brown and Jeff Hansen. This will be another successful year of reducing the whale kill numbers. The Japanese fleet has been on the run consistently for two and a half months. Two of the three harpoons boats have been constantly occupied tailing the Sea Shepherd ships. With only one harpoon vessel and having to be moving to avoid the Sea Shepherd ships, my prediction is that the whale kill will not exceed 200 whales. We will see when the Japanese fleet heads home which should be quite soon. Sea Shepherd Australia needs another ship, a ship that is ice strengthened, with a long range and can exceed 20 knots. If such a ship can be secured and returns in December along with Steve Irwin, Bob Barker and Sam Simon, I think the whaling fleet can be shut down 100%. The Sam Simon has returned to Williamstown in Australia afar refueling the Steve Irwin and the Bob Barker. This is a report from Captain Sid Chakravarty from onboard the Steve Irwin off Cape Adare, Antarctica.
