Religion Leaves Him Cold And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory as of a father’s only son, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) One of the biggest turnoff’s for me in life is organized religion. It probably sounds a bit weird coming from me – most probably think Im sharing “religion” ... But religion leaves me cold. That word “religion” conjures up musty old buildings and musty old people and musty old rules, for me. Maybe that’s a bit unfair – but who said it had to be fair? It’s just how it is for me. Imagine my surprise when I opened up this musty old book they call the Bible – and started reading about a radical, edgy, post-modern, here and now God by the name of Jesus. You know the best thing for me is that He deplored musty old religion and rules and all that stuff even more than I did. My kind of guy. But there was something more. Much more. He cut through all the rubbish and somehow touched people deep down where they needed to be touched. He understood dignity and grace and courage … and love. Not just back then. Now. Me. You… # Jesus
