Religion can never remove sin. Your virtues can never cancel out your vices. Good deeds can never remove bad ones. If a person gets right with God it is not a result of their works “so that no one may boast”. No religious efforts - or experiences – christening, confirmation, baptism, holy communion, church going, prayers, gifts, sacrifices of time and effort, bible reading or anything else – can cancel out even a single sin. One man created the problem of sin - Adam. Another man fixed that problem - Jesus. The Bible’s central message is “For God so loved the world, he gave is only Son, so that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life”. He paid the punishment which we deserve. It is a free gift. He is the only way. When you know Jesus, that void, that emptiness is filled because you will finally realise how much such a mighty God loves you!
