Religion helps to manifest all the possibilities in a man and these possibilities which we know as individual characteristics come in different shapes and forms. To attempt to fulfill a man by denying these characteristics is to neutralize his virility and growth. Therefore Lord Krishna has said in the Bhagavad Gita,”It is better to die with one’s own characteristics intact than to live by copying the characteristics of another.” Just as we transform the dhal and rice we eat into nutrition for our body but do not become dhal or rice, so whatever we may accept from any place should be taken to nurture our being, but we should never allow our being to be absorbed by it. Otherwise we will destroy our very existence. But now-a-days we have forgotten these basic physical laws of life. We have allowed ourselves to be absorbed into others by copying them, thus we have neither been able to become them nor have been able to maintain our own specialties intact. We have been culturally conquered and have been hiding our shame under another’s dress. It is we ourselves who have blocked our own development.” Be Continued....
