Religion itself can be a killer beast. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Eph. 6:12) The opponent here is not just something physical, it is SPIRITUAL FORCES OF WICKEDNESS. Much of the conflict taking place in the world today is all being carried out in the name of religion. It is a beastly spirit of religious orders. In 1 Corinthians 15:32 Paul states, I have fought with beasts at Ephesus. Remember in the book of Revelation, the church at Ephesus, the first one that is mentioned, had left its first love. A religious beast was right there at that first church at work to rob it. In Acts 28 1:6, on the Island of Malta, Paul had a venomous beast hang onto his hand. Then we are told, he shook off the beast into the fire and felt no harm. God let us shake off everything that religion has tried to put upon us! That venomous beast called religion can be traced all the way back to Genesis, where it robbed from Adam. At various times down through the ages this beast has raised its ugly head to spew out its deadly venom. This venomous, beastly power operated through Hitler, the Roman empire, and many more, all in the name of some sort of religion. Praying warriors, pray with all faith! Pray with power and authority! Pray with fervency! Pray with understanding and pray with the Spirit! Pray as a winning warrior. Pray in the name of Jesus! In the days of Ahab and Jezebel, that same venomous beast was at work spewing out death. Remember, that is when Elijah prayed and the very words of his mouth, opened up the heavens and there was a great rain. I hear something beyond the television news channels. I hear the sound of the abundance of rain and I am not talking H2O!
