Religion versus Relationship Religion says, “I don’t - TopicsExpress

Religion versus Relationship Religion says, “I don’t deserve it.” Relationship says, “I trust His mercies that are new every morning; great the faithfulness of my God.” Lately I am becoming more aware of how constant God’s love is. I wake up in the morning and it dawns on me (no pun intended), that a fresh day with fresh mercy and loving kindness from the Lord has begun. In fact He was preparing a new day for us even while I was sleeping! If God starts off each day with a brand new sunrise, if the darkness fades away from our sleepy eyes without fail, then doesnt that in and of itself prove His love? We need so much reminding! We are so weak and frail, our minds so finite! And we are so undeserving! We don’t have what it takes in ourselves to faithfully love and honour the Lord! Religion at its best will only produces a self-righteousness which gives feelings of satisfaction or disappointment in our own successes or failures. It will never give us that truly deep, lasting peace and joy that comes from relying wholly upon God’s grace! 11 Corinthians 5:21 says, “For God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, IN EXCHANGE, He poured God’s goodness into us!” I Corinthians 1:26-30 is one of my most favourite passages in the Bible. It reminds me that although I never was, or ever will be really smart, or strong, or popular, or someone important by this world’s standards – when Im found in Christ, He is my wisdom, my righteousness, my purity, and my blood purchase! I can never be taken from Him, because I belong to Him, and that’s the safest place I can be! For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” Now isnt that encouraging? Good reminders for every day!
