Religious discussion for the day: This time I chose to use the Quran. The 2 scriptures below seem to indicate that Islam is in agreement with Judaism and Christianity. Surah Al-Ankabut 29:46-47 (29:46) Argue not with the People of the Book except in the fairest manner, unless it be those of them that are utterly unjust. Say to them: “We believe in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to you. One is our God and your God; and we are those who submit ourselves to Him.” Surah 5. Al-Maida, Ayah 68 Asad : Say: O followers of the Bible! You have no valid ground for your beliefs unless you [truly] observe the Torah and the Gospel, and all that has been bestowed from on high upon you by your Sustainer! 85 Yet all that has been bestowed from on high upon thee [O Prophet] by thy Sustainer is bound to make many of them yet more stubborn in their overweening arrogance and in their denial of the truth. But sorrow not over people who deny the truth: Malik : Tell them: O people of the Book! You have no ground to stand on unless you observe the Taurat (Torah), Injeel (Gospel) and other revelations that have come to you from your Rabb. This revelation (The Quran) which has come to you from your Rabb will surely increase the rebellion and disbelief of many of them but you should not grieve for the disbelievers. Question: If the Quran is saying that the people of the time should believe the Torah and the Gospels, and that we serve the same God, why is there such separation on who Jesus was? If they are to believe the Gospels, then it would seem that they would have to believe that Christ is who the Gospels say he is. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Next week we will discuss how a religion of Peace (Islam) talks quite often about killing the non-believers, on example is: Surah 9:29 Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled. And other versus from the Quran such as: - Truly, god loves those who fight - Fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem. - Chop off their hands and chop off their fingertips - When you meet the unbelievers, chop off their heads - Fight and slay those who dont convert wherever you find them - Believers, take neither Jew nor Christians for your friends I would also like you to think about why many Muslims say that Islam means peace, when in fact it means Submit or Surrender.
