Religious leaders are supposed to be the moral voice of society. They are suppose to side with the truth and preach the truth and uphold the moral teachings of religion. When families are in disarray, when societies experience turbulence either due to internal or external issues they are suppose to be able to turn to their spiritual and religious leaders for advice and counsel. When marriages are in dispute religious leaders and elders in society are suppose to intervene and try to settle the disputes.. They are suppose to be sounding the alarm, counsel society when there are signs of injustice and potential violence... It is evident that Gambias Muslim leaders have chosen to entangle themselves in Gambian politics unlike their Senegalese counterparts. They have chosen to accept bribery in lieu of their support for a government that continue to divide its society, a government that openly arrest, torture and incarcerate citizens without due process. Gambian Imams occupying prominent positions have deviated from their moral responsibilities of siding with the truth and choose to be bought by a rogue regime that has no respect for them and their people... When Imams condemn girls wearing short dresses, attending parties and not wearing the veil and YET they choose to ignore young ladies being raped, impregnated, marriages being shattered, wives being widowed, left without support due to kidnapping of their husbands, young children being left orphanage by a government and a leader, those Imams have lost the moral respect from society, they have ceased to have the legitimacy to lead a clean prayer... Those Imams have therefore lost all moral standings by choosing to mix evil politics with their religious influence. We therefore have the responsibility to not only call them out but take the fight to them and expose every hypocritical move they are involved in... And then we will patiently wait for each and everyone of them to be humiliated by the very evil they serve... We either side with the truth or lie with disgrace!!!!
