Religious observation says the world is 6,000 years old. Scientific observation says its nearly 6,000,000,000 years old. Both sides of the coin stick to their one-sided observations. Truth is, both sides are correct in what they have observed. What the religious neglect to observe is that science is observing the natural aspects of the planets history, its development, its growth, and how all living organisms have adapted, from then to now, to make up the whole of the entire world. What the scientific neglect to observe is that religion directly points out the history of Mans departure from Nature, and therefore dates the planet from our human perspective. And without this departure from Nature, today we would not have Science, Math, Religion, Philosophy, Agriculture, Language, Music, Logic, Calculations, Estimations, Hypotheses, Theories, Imagination, Politics, Governments, Laws, so-on and so-forth; basically, most everything we know from cohabitation, coexisting with early forms of humanistic means of societal ideals concerned with survival. Prior to this, the world did not exist; not the world we know. Rape was not a word, thought, or persecution; it was a natural fact--possession and rights were granted to the most brutal, fittest, and tyrannizing beast; for prior to that 6,000 year-ago mark, humans were beasts. Humans are still beasts today, but have been working together for the past 6,000 years, struggling to correct our erroneous ways. We can thank religion for humanity. Religion hasnt always helped Mankind, as a whole, and therefore has had to be revised numerous times; were still not perfect, and may still have a long way to go. But also, we have science to thank for showing us where we came from, why, and how it is that humans are really no different from any other species that works its best to conquer, dominate, and rid itself of competition. Science can learn from religion, and religion can learn from science, and perhaps in time may come up with a compromise which is beneficial to all people.
