Religious tension further spreading in Sri Lanka.... Religious tensions seems spreading further in Sri Lanka as another tense situation was reported from Mawathagama of Kurunegala district yesterday over a sign board. Reports say a tense situation was erupted as the police attempted to remove a sign board which they claimed illegal. The sign board erected in front of a mosque on Kandy - Kurunegala highway posted the message "Be silent before the mosque". DIG of the Mawathegama police station visited yesterday evening had tried to remove the board. However area residents stage protest against this and also argued with police officer to submit the paper of court order. sources say, adding that the leader of Buddhist extremist Bodu Bala Sena Galagodaaththe Gnanasara addressing a rally held in Kurunegala recently had asked the sign board be removed.
