The combined public transport network in Greater London couldnt care less if you rely on getting to work for a large portion of your weekly earnings. It doesnt even care if (unlikely) its not crippled itself with planned engineering works: tube trains could still be running 10 minutes apart and National Rail enquiries could absolutely no resemblance to the timetable thats actually running.
