Remains have been located in a Toomelah residence where a fire destroyed part of the premises. Around 1.30am on Friday 9 August 2013, emergency services were called to a house fire at Toomelah Mission, Boggabilla. They found the house well-alight. Fire fighters attended and were able to extinguish the fire. All occupants were located safely, apart from a 14-year-old girl. It was believed at the time the girl was not in the house when the fire was extinguished. A crime scene was established and following further examinations of the burnt debris, skeletal remains were found. While they are yet to be formally identified, it is believed the remains are of the missing 14-year-old girl. Police investigations continue.
