Remember Koko the Gorilla? She was really popular back in the 80s. Koko learned sign language and had a kitten. Robin Williams visited her and she asked him to tickle her. Go watch some videos on YouTube and walk down memory lane, like the one where she finds out the cat died. Did you know Koko is still alive? Apparently gorillas live 35-40 years but can live to 50ish in captivity. Francine, the woman who taught sign language to Koko in 1972 is still around, too. Shes close to 70 years old now, and still trying to help Koko achieve her dream of becoming a mother (which is still possible even though Koko is now 43 years old.) Francines biggest concern right now (other than helping Koko be a mom) is to have her thousands of hours of analog recorded data transferred to digital before it deteriorates. I totally stumbled upon this randomly while watching cute animal videos and found one for Kokos birthday.
