Remember Mike Gwin, the tall soft-spoken young man who was everywhere, did everything in the Democrat organization in mid-Iowa for the re-election of President Obama? Mike, now 22, disappeared after the impressively successful campaign ended and returned to Washington to resume studies at the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. Many thought wed never see him here again, that he might surface as ambassador to Liechtenstein or marry somebody (most certainly a Democrat) in the Bush family. But, weve lucked out. Mike is coming back to Iowa. Word is hes gotten a promotion (something like regional field director) and will be here starting in May. Itll be good to see him. He laughs at jokes, listens when people talk, and is smart. Great to have him on the team.
