Remember Roths Furniture? ln 1909 M. H.S. Roth discontinued the furniture business on Ann St. due to many other interests he held which he would like to give more personal attention. The funeral business was moved to Spring St. And later he opened a furniture store downtown, then added the funeral business upstairs. Mr. Roth started in business in Middletown in 1894 with a $1200 stock and a room of 1800 square feet. He kept adding to the building until in 1909 his inventory showed $13,000 stock and 10,000 square feet of floor space. Photo 1: Roths Furniture & Funeral Business on South Union, near Brown Street.
