Remember, Salvation is a gift from God, and there are many wonderful gifts of God there for the taking, but the high calling of God in Jesus Christ requires pressing toward the mark for the prize. A gift is given because of the goodness of the giver, not because of the merit of the recipient. But to obtain a prize one must qualify. To him that overcometh will I give! Hbr 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us], and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, You see we are given salvation because of the unconditional love of the Father toward us. The prize means rest. It means to sit down. Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. Though many run, not all receive the prize. Let us be faithful partakers of the heavenly calling. You have been called to glory and virtue so be willing in the day of His power, in the beauties of holiness to abide in Christ. The beauty of our salvation is, we had nothing to do with it. Jesus was solely responsible for our right standing with God. John 17:2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. Jesus possessed the ability to give eternal life to as many as was given to Him.
