Remember being the phone in my office shooting the shit with a customer. Someone walked by my office and said a plane crashed in NYC. Continued the phone call and then headed to the break room for a cup of coffee. TV was on. Sat down with one of my colleagues to figure out what happened. As I took my first sip, shadow zips into the screen and 2nd tower hit.... I thought of Lisa Jacobs (where was she today), my brother and my parents. Contemplated how on earth I could be selfish enough to bring a child into thus world. Thought of my Dad again. My hero. Pulled himself out of the Irish Ghetto in Philadelphia. Naval Academy Grad. Ex-Marine. Poster boy of the American Dream. Thought maybe this was a fallacy. Thought of all the years we bankrolled despots, rigged elections, overtly and covertly directed our power globally in the name of freedom and democracy had finally outstripped the truly good and gracious fruits and endeavors Americans had shared with the world......Ive said it many times before, the most salient concept gleaned from my BA in History is that history is cyclical. The human race continues to make the same mistakes....
