Remember how bad Marlon Brando was in Apocalypse Now? I was trying to think of which actors would be better in the role of Kurtz and how one could shoot new footage and add new dialogue by more appropriate actors with better, more messianic voices---say Vin Diesel or Robert De Niro---to make a better film. And then I realized---anyone would be better than Brando. And so, here is my idea for a film. Call it Anyone Would be Better than Brando and get as many actors as possible to sub for him as Kurtz, keep all the rest the same. So we would have Martin Sheen talking to Pee wee Herman. Emma Thompson. Gerard Depardieu. Judith Dench. Ian McKellan. The more the merrier. All you would need is for Francis Ford Coppola to agree. I want to see it.
