Remember that the elections for our Borough and Town Councillors - TopicsExpress

Remember that the elections for our Borough and Town Councillors is on 7th May this year; as well as electing Julian Flood as our new MP. There are several seats in the Haverhill area (both on Borough and Town Councils) that are currently unrepresented because the incumbent fails to turn up at council meetings to represent you often without the decency to apologise. It is planned that UKIP will present candidates for all wards in the St. Edmundsbury and West Suffolk areas to give voters a real choice and this includes Haverhill. So do you fancy standing as a Councillor for Forest Heath Borough Council, St. Edmundsbury Borough Council or even your local Town/Parish Council? In most cases the job is not onerous and can often take very little of your time depending upon which Council you stand for, whether you are elected to serve on committees, and the size of the area you represent. There are certain restrictions as to who can stand based on where you live/work but Councilor Tony Brown will be able to explain all if you contact him. It is always better that someone can commit to the time remembering that they should plan for 4 years of serving their communities and realising how satisfying it can be. But remember you will be helping yourself, your community and the area where you live to a better life. If you do not want to represent UKIP, but still want to stand, then contact your local council for advice on how to stand as an independent candidate. You can also stand for another party of course but we strongly recommend you dont! :)
