Remember the Sabbath! When speaking of the Feasts of the Eternal, - TopicsExpress

Remember the Sabbath! When speaking of the Feasts of the Eternal, the 23rd chapter of Leviticus starts in this manner; “And the Lord spake unto Moses saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts. Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the Sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.” (Verses 1-3), (emphasis added). God started of this chapter showing that the Sabbath is also an holy convocation. Showing, that this day, is also a feast of God’s. Yet, man has continually, tried to do away with keeping this test commandment. It is also commanded that we should do no manner of work within these Sabbath’s and that they are for ever “throughout your generations.” (Vs. 31). Since it is “for ever” throughout our generations, then one should conceive that it is still in effect today. Lets see what is stated about this commandment in Ex. 20. Starting in verse 8 and continuing on, it says; “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shall you labor and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it you shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor the stranger that is within thy gates:” (Vs. 8-10). We see here, that God even requires anyone that works for us, and any person that is living with us, must keep this day holy. Just because that person may not believe in keeping the Sabbath, nevertheless he is required to keep it within our households. As stated in Leviticus 23, the Sabbath is also a feast to God. What else does God say about this day? Vs 11 of Ex. 20; “For in six days the lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.” In speaking of this seventh day, God is bringing us back to the creation of the earth as it stands now. He is emphasizing that, during those six days before the Sabbath, he completed all his work, and then rested that seventh day. Does God need to take time off and rest? HE is all powerful, and all encompassing, and is spiritual! So the Sabbath was created for our purpose, to rest and learn of God. What did God do on that seventh day? In Genesis 2:15-17, we see that God brought man to the Garden of Eden, and he taught man of his way of life. The two trees mentioned are but the briefest history of the fact that God was instructing man in how to live. For Adam could not have sinned, if he didn’t know that sin was the transgression of the law of God, (1 John 3:4). Going back just a little farther in Genesis we find that on the sixth day, God made man and woman. Starting in verse 26 of Genesis 1 we see that God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over… So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them,” through verse 27. So in remembering the Sabbath, God wants us to understand, that, not only did he create us, but that he created us in his image.
