Remember the good. O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name, make known his deeds among the peoples. Psalm 105:1. Depression is an ugly and deceiving mental impairment. It robs a person of joy, isolates them from those who can help and causes them to make bad choices or no choices at all. Untreated depression turns into bitterness and will rot a decent human being into a an unbearable lug. What ever is good, lovely, pure, holy, worthy or acceptable... Think of these. When a negative thought or comment comes to mind, you have to think of a positive. Try thinking of 10 grateful things. Surround yourself with positive influence and joyful people. Do not isolate yourself. Do not self-medicate, but seek professional help if you have trouble functioning. Depression can be treated successfully and can kill you or others if left untreated. Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord or fully declare His praise? Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right. Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people, come to my aid when you save them, that I may enjoy the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may share in the joy of your nation and join your inheritance in giving praise. Some 106:2-5. A spirit of Thanksgiving brings us closer to God. What are you thankful for today? Generous God, help us to be thankful for our blessings, especially when life is difficult. In way we are witnesses to your love. Replace our negative thoughts and comments with the words of your prophets. Push us to treatments that heal. Amen. Prayer focus: those suffering from depression.
