Remember the story we shared about a month ago where bystanders of a vehicle accident with fire stood by and took pictures instead of trying to save the occupants who ultimately died? A same type of accident happened this evening near Alvarado...but the outcome was quite different. Morgan and her husband were at their house in the 9000 block of E. FM 917 (near Alvarado and Lillian) when they heard a loud boom outside. A vehicle had ran off the road, hit a tree, and burst into flames. As Morgans husband ran across the road to the accident scene, she called 9-1-1. The next door neighbors had also heard the crash and ran outside to help. The bystanders pulled the passenger car door downward to allow smoke to come out of the car while trying to get the doors unlocked. The neighbors and some bystanders immediately started pulling all kinds of objects out of their cars and neighbors ran to help with anything they could find to bust the window out before the man was burned alive inside. Another bystander that had stopped thankfully had a fire extinguisher in his vehicle and they were able to slow the fire down. The neighbors and bystanders shattered the driver side window, popped the airbag and pulled the unconscious man from the burning car. Emergency responders provided medical assistance and the occupant was flown by CareFlite to JPS. We have not heard an update on his condition, but Morgan says he was conscious, breathing and responsive while waiting on paramedics!! What a story!!! Hats off and well done to the neighbors and bystanders who pulled the man from his burning vehicle before the firefighters and EMS arrived. Incredible! As Morgan said, God puts us all at the right place and at the right time and today was perfect example of this.
