Remember when Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns went at it to determine who was the best? Or when Leonard came back and stepped up to face the formidable Marvin Hagler? How about the legendary Hagler-Hearns or Leonard-Duran showdowns? Or even when Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad went at it at a time when they were in the prime of their careers and both near the top of the pound for pound lists? Even when De La Hoya dared to be great and make history and stepped up, though unsuccessfully, to challenge Bernard Hopkins? Chavez v Whitaker, Arguello v Pryor, Toney v Jones Jr , Ali and Frazier battling out to determine who was the true #1 heavyweight in the world? Sugar Ray Robinson vs everybody? All I can say is thank **** they didn’t have Twitter in them days – ‘cos maybe none of those fights would have ever happened.
