Remember when...? Take care and watch yourselves closely, so as neither to forget the things that your eyes have seen nor to let them slip from your mind all the days of your life. Deuteronomy 4:9. I am afraid, a few things may have slipped... Remember when America was a different place? When things that were socially acceptable were wrong or when judgement was commonplace? We still have a long way to go, but looking back reminds us how far we have come. Today is a reminder of a man, not a saint, but a man of God, of courage and vision who took a stand and made a difference in the lives of generations to come. Today is a commemorative day in honor of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. How sad he would be to see the lives of some young black men today, but how wonderful it is to see his dream lived out in our schools today. Black or white, male or female, all races and genders have an opportunity to make a difference. By doing what you are called to do, you are fulfilling destiny... Your destiny! Dorothea uses lists as an example of remembering. Just as we use lists to grocery shop, or pay bills, lists can strengthen our faith. Write down the ways God touches your life. List prayers, and journal answered prayer. Use these as remember when? reminders of Gods presence for yourselves and others. Remembering Gods past faithfulness helps us trust God with out future. Holy Father, thank you for your steadfast presence. Help us to be bold and brave about telling of your marvelous works. Thank you for the leaders, who fought (and fight) for freedom and against violence. Please bring your loving peace to our broken world. Amen. Prayer focus: Our families.
