† Remembering - Nov 17: ***1979 – John Glascock, English singer and bass player (Jethro Tull, The Gods, Toe Fat, Carmen, and Chicken Shack) (b. 1951) John Glascock (2 May 1951 – 17 November 1979) was the bass guitarist, backing vocalist, and occasional lead vocalist for the progressive rock band Carmen. He was also the bass guitarist and backing vocalist for the progressive rock band Jethro Tull from December 1975 until August 1979. He died in 1979, at the age of 28, as a result of a congenital heart valve defect, which was worsened by an infection caused by an abscessed tooth. She is best known for her role as Florida Evans, a no-nonsense black housekeeper on the CBS television sitcom Maude for two seasons (1972-1974) and its spin-off series Good Times for five seasons (1974-1977, 1978-1979). After residing in Los Angeles, California, Rolle died on November 17, 1998 in Culver City, California, from complications of diabetes, 9 days after her 78th birthday................. A Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, Gibson penned such country standards as Sweet Dreams and I Cant Stop Loving You, and enjoyed a string of country hits from 1957 into the early 1970s. His death from natural causes on November 17, 2003.. O:) ***2006 – Ruth Brown, American singer-songwriter and actress (b. 1928) Ruth Brown (January 12/January 30, 1928 – November 17, 2006) was an American singer-songwriter and actress also known as Queen of R&B noted for bringing a pop music style to R&B music in a series of hit songs for Atlantic Records in the 1950s, such as So Long, Teardrops from My Eyes and (Mama) He Treats Your Daughter Mean. For these contributions, Atlantic became known as The house that Ruth built (alluding to the popular nickname for Old Yankee Stadium). Brown died in a Las Vegas-area hospital on November 17, 2006, from complications following a heart attack and stroke she suffered after surgery in the previous month. She was 78 years old................ O:) ***2012 – Billy Scott, American singer-songwriter (b. 1942) Billy Scott (October 5, 1942 – November 17, 2012) was an American R&B singer, who was lead vocalist for the group The Prophets, later known as The Georgia Prophets, and eventually Billy Scott & The Party Prophets. He was known for beach-music hits such as I Got the Fever and California. In 2006, Billy Scott released his final album and on Saturday November 17, 2012, he died of pancreatic and liver cancer..
