Remembering 9/11. “Trying To Remember the Color of the Sky on - TopicsExpress

Remembering 9/11. “Trying To Remember the Color of the Sky on That September Morning” is a monumental but at the same time delicate work made up of 2,983 individual squares of Fabriano Italian paper — one square for every person killed in the Sept. 11 attacks and in the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center — each hand-painted a different shade of blue by artist Spencer Finch. As my friend Carla Fargo put it: It is enormous. Absolutely enormous. As you know a watercolorist painted 2,823 pieces of watercolor paper, each having a different color blue. You can see the color diversity, as well as the watercolor magic in the close up below. Each represents a person lost and a unique view of the sky that day. Very moving.
