Remembering a Miracle, “what do these stones mean to you?” - TopicsExpress

Remembering a Miracle, “what do these stones mean to you?” [Joshua 4: 6]. The sight, which would be facing the people of Israel on the banks of the Jordan, would have been a daunting one. The river, “..overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest..” and would have been about a mile wide [3v15]. Yet the priests were commanded to stand in the Jordan while carrying the heavy ark of the covenant [3v8]. What faith was required! Additionally, the miracle took place, “.. very far away at Adam,” [v16], about 18 miles from Jericho. They would not see the point of the miracle but were expected to place faith in God carrying it out on their behalf. Immediately, “.. the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water .. the waters which came down from upstream stood still..” [3vs15-16]. The stones were a memorial forever [4v7]. We meet this morning to take the symbols of an even greater miracle, the bread and the wine. The sinless, Son of God died in my place so that my sins are forgiven through faith in Him. It happened very far away but I believe totally that I am forgiven and cleansed completely. https://youtube/watch?v=tlgd_uT3mmM
