Remembering my Grandpa a year ago today, just a month after - TopicsExpress

Remembering my Grandpa a year ago today, just a month after Grandma died. At the time, I was angry with him. How could he leave us at a time like this? I know he missed Grandma so much, but didnt he know how much we still needed him? But then I come to embrace that he truly was inseparable from his wife. We should all take a lesson from this because my grandparents truly set the example of the marriage vows and family. In essence, they were both my heroes and I loved them dearly. It has been so strange to not stop by the old house, come right in and say hello to Grandma as she watched old black and white westerns on tv while knitting some socks for winter. Then seeing Grandpa come down the hallway into the living room with a big smile and hello. Sometimes even offering some of Grandmas rhubarb cake with vanilla ice cream and coffee! Those were some of the best times Ive ever had there and will miss. I am proud for what they did throughout life and represented, even long after Grandpa fought and lost his right leg in the Korean War. Its a legacy that I will continue to carry and pass on. Changes like these will also make way for new family traditions, while keeping whats most important at the center... Family, truth and loyalty to each other, and being great friends.
