Remembering the Great Sam Hall, longtime DARK SHADOWS and ONE LIFE TO LIVE writer, who sadly passed away yesterday. Heres my FANGORIA profile of Sam and his son (and co-writer) Matt Hall, conducted during production of the 1991 NBC nighttime DARK SHADOWS revival. It was my extreme privilege to have several long conversations with both Sam and Matt, who had more stories than could possibly have made it into this piece (though the article length kept growing, on insistence of my editor, who was fascinated with the material that was emerging, and urged me to conduct further conversations with Sam and Matt). They were incredibly gracious and encouraging to an extremely young writer, even offering me their very wise advice regarding my own career. For that, and for the spirit of joy and enthusiasm they infused into this project, I am forever indebted and so tremendously grateful.
