Remembering the day of Resurrection Ibn Abi Hatim (ra) narrates - TopicsExpress

Remembering the day of Resurrection Ibn Abi Hatim (ra) narrates that the messenger of ALLAH (SAW) used to go out late night to see his companions prayed and supplicated and would then weep in the darkness One night, the voice of an old woman resonating from behind a door, reached the ears of the prophet (SAW). The woman was crying and repeating a single verse of the Quran: has there reached you the report of the overwhelming ( event)? Quran (88:1) The old woman was crying terribly and repeating the same verse again and again. The messanger of ALLAH (SAW) placed his blessed head against the door and began to cry. He then said: Yes, it did reach me;it did reach me. Please take a moment to reflect on this scene, of this old woman in the middle of the night when everyone was asleep, devotedly praying to her lord, ALLAH (SWT) for his protection and blessings. And in stark contrast, consider the condition of todays Muslim youth. Never mind the Nawafil or voluntary acts of worship, they do not even fulfill the Faraid or obligatory acts of worship. This episode should make us examine our own lives. If an old woman remembered her lord in this manner, why cant young Muslims full of vigor do the same? In fact, they should worship ALLAH (SWT) and how gratitude for his blessings even more so than the elderly. Is there not a lesson in this story for people of understanding?
