Remembering the legendary Ronnie Van Zant tonight, lead vocalist and founding member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, on what would have been his 67th birthday. He was the older brother of the band’s current lead vocalist Johnny Van Zant and Donnie Van Zant, lead vocalist of 38 Special. He is also the father of singer Tammy Van Zant and cousin of musician Jimmie Van Zant. From their 1973 debut album, (Pronounced Lĕh-nérd Skin-nérd), Free Bird, became their signature song, to which Van Zant later dedicated to the late Duane Allman of The Allman Brothers Band. Enjoy :)
