Reminder: Columbus County enacted a law over a year ago that all - TopicsExpress

Reminder: Columbus County enacted a law over a year ago that all animals adopted within an 8 county radius MUST be spayed or neutered. This means that anyone from Columbus or the surrounding counties MUST pay up front for a spay/neuter voucher and must then schedule the surgery at a vet in the county in order to keep the animal. Prices vary by gender and weight of the animal. Everyone SHOULD believe this is a good thing. No one should be deliberately breeding animals with all of the ones at risk in the shelter. You will not have accidental litters if you alter your dog like you should. The ONLY way to truly address the horrible conditions for animals in Columbus County is to stop creating more to replace the ones dumped at CCAC. Finally, if you cannot afford to adopt a dog from this shelter, you cannot afford a dog. You should not have a dog. ANY respectable dog owner will be able to to pay for vaccinations, spay/neuter, HW prevention, yearly medical testing, medications, food, toys, boarding for when you go out of town, etc. These are not things rich people do; they are things good dog owners do, and too many people in Columbus County think its okay not to be good dog owners. Its time to change attitudes and ideas about whats acceptable.
