Reminder* FOURTH ANNUAL “Guardians of the Night K9 5K Run/Walk!” Food, Fun, Displays, Demonstrations and a Race Sheriff Leon Lott is encouraging the community to participate in the 4th Annual Guardians of the Night K-9 5K. It’s a race that benefits the Richland County Sheriff’s Foundation specifically the K-9 unit. Join us on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 10:30 PM at the Village at Sandhill. The race will begin at the Plex, 741 Fashion Drive and end at the Fountain in the Town Center Commons. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that this annual 5K race is an opportunity for members of our community to come out and interact, run and fellowship with our K-9 officers in a different setting than official capacity. We will have members of our K-9 participating in the run with their assigned K-9 which makes this a unique race. After the race our K-9 unit will be on hand for interaction during the award ceremony. This race is always fun and fast and since our first race it has more than doubled in size, I really think that is a great thing when The Richland County Sheriff’s Department and the community can partner together on things like this and everyone that participates has a great time and it is for a great cause. “Guardians of the Night K9 5K Run/Walk is a certified race course and chip timing will be used for scoring. The “Guardians of the Night K9-5K” Run/Walk is being professionally managed by Strictly Running of Columbia, and is being organized by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department K9 Unit. The entry fee is $25.00 with early registration between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM on Saturday, July 26, 2014. Entry fee includes T-shirt and the first male and female finishers overall receive $50.00, also awards to the top male and female finishers in all age groups (overall winners not eligible for age-group awards). All proceeds benefit the Richland County Sheriffs Department K9 Unit.
