Reminder: Welcome Picnic tomorrow! You should receive your welcome envelope with classroom assignment today in the mail today, if you didnt yesterday. If you think your child is enrolled at Carthay School of Environmental Studies Magnet and you dont receive an envelope, you might want to come Sunday or call or visit the school on Monday and make sure you are in. The new LAUSD MiSiS computer program has apparently dropped some students from enrollment. We are working with STAR to introduce a fee-based after school program with particular focus on students in Kinder and 1st Grade. Our daughter did the fee-based program when she was in Kindergarten and it was great! Because of new licensing process, they need 15 students to express interest in the fee-based program, and after that it is a 60-90 day process to get it going, so the sooner people sign up the better. Unlike the grant-funded program, which requires students to stay until 6pm 5 days a week (with exception for valid excuses such as doctor appointment, etc.), the fee-based program is more flexible so students in the grant-funded may want to switch once the program is licensed. So if you are interested in the fee-based STAR program, let Autumn Johnson know. Her email address is on the school website and she will be at the Welcome Picnic on Sunday.
