Reminds me of an incident when I was a graduate student at UoT and working as security guard at night at a condo building basically sitting at a front office studying, a perfect student job. There was an apartment that was supposed to be empty and |I had a key to access it to make a cup of coffee or use the bathroom. At 3 am I entered and there was a person lying on the ground. Apparently a former tenant who was going through hard time, his ex had just kicked him out and he had no money, and itd be 3 days before he get social assistance while looking for a job. I gave him $20 and my number and told him to pay me when he could if he could, if it makes him feel better, but its OK consider me to have bought you dinner. Do you know what his response was? He thought I am a homo and expressed, its ok man, why else would you give me money! This shows how it is deemed peculiar and unexpected to act as such. It should be the norm and should come as no surprise. We need to open up more to the true principles of socialism. Democratic socialism. One of the greatest minds that ever lived, Albert Einstein once said: The only answer to the human race is a world government. They laughed when once Obama hinted to it, combine resources, share, there would be no need for wars or a few dying with billions in banks signifying nothing, while 99% are suffering. There is a fine line between free market and good capitalism, and negative extreme right wing thought that never worked. Simple? maybe, but argue with Einstein who believed its the answer. So do I. Democratic socialism. I lived in countries where free market capitalism business e.g. factories, have to distribute 25% of the profit between workers or employees. Those who claim right wing here, their party would never stand a chance if they denounced social applications: health care, pension, education subsidy, social assistance etc - the socialism application of one for all, all for one, without which our own society here would collapse. A little kind turn to the left is what we need.
