Remnant prayer journal: The hope of the church (12.26, 2014) 2 Corinthians 8:16-24 But thanks be to God who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.17 For he not only accepted the exhortation, but being more diligent, he went to you of his own accord. 18 And we have sent with him the brother whose praise is in the gospel throughout all the churches, 19 and not only that, but who was also chosen by the churches to travel with us with this gift, which is administered by us to the glory of the Lord Himself and to show your ready mind, 20 avoiding this: that anyone should blame us in this lavish gift which is administered by us— 21 providing honorable things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men. 22 And we have sent with them our brother whom we have often proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, because of the great confidence which we have in you. 23 If anyone inquires about Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker concerning you. Or if our brethren are inquired about, they are messengers of the churches, the glory of Christ. 24 Therefore show to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love and of our boasting on your behalf. Right now is a time of crisis for the church. The world is criticizing the church which has lost its light and the next generation is drowning in the sweet pleasure of the world as they leave the church. Also, many churches are getting caught up in worthless fights and are crumbling. God has given us a commission, that we must save and establish the true churches in this age of crisis. Now we must begin true devotion. But what is true devotion? 1. The way for me to live The true devotion that saves the church is the way for me to be revived. Everything that has been given to me is a gift from God to handle my commission. Also, what God has given me must rightfully be offered up for God’s kingdom. To hat end, I must begin by taking the talents He has given me and asking Him, “What is the life-saving devotion God desires of me right now regarding the field and the church? 2. Relay it to the next generation The most important answer in saving the church and the future is in the next generation. Everything changes according to what we relay to the next generation and what kind of generation arises. For this reason, we must stake our lives for the Remnant movement, which is the hope of the church. We must pray, hope, and establish the church for that day when a generation arises for whom the Gospel of Jesus Christ that God gave us is engraved in their hearts and mind, a generation seized by the power of the Holy Spirit to transform the age. 3. A small devotion to transform the age For the sake of the Korean people who were worshipping idols at the time, a young evangelist called Missionary Thomas gave his life to plant the seed of the Gospel on this land. Though we may be weak and small, our one life to live is not something else’s but that given up for the sake of the eternal task of planting and witnessing the Gospel. And evangelism and missions are what God rejoices in and the work of greatest glory. We must live the life of the evangelist to be the hope of the church through our small devotion of planting the seed of the Gospel that changes the world. [Forum Topic] What is the devotion I can do for the church and the Remnant? Try and put one small thing into practice for this devotion. [Minute Meditation] Even today, I dream of the kingdom of God that will be established through evangelism and missions.
