Remote Indigenous Broadcasting Coordinator Applications are invited for this key position with Aurukun Shire Council which is located on West Cape York, 2 hours flight from Cairns. Aurukun, population 1,400, is a township with housing, community and business infrastructure being rapidly developed. The position reports to the Director of Community Services. As the Wik Mungkan Remote Indigenous Broadcasting Coordinator, you have an important role in the community. The primary focus of the position is to coordinate activities and manage the Indigenous Knowledge Centre on behalf of the Council. Additionally, you will be responsible for driving, planning and implementing new library services and programs, develop community partnerships and, implement innovations and efficiency improvements. Your application will be seriously considered if you have:- Previous related experience Experience and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island cultures, with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills Ability to work actively as a team member with other Council staff to improve the wellbeing of the community Aurukun Shire Council is looking to engage a dynamic, enthusiastic, energetic and vibrant person to establish a daily local radio show. This person requires the ability to positively engage with local community and stakeholders to operate a fun and exciting local radio station.
