Renaissance City Ballroom, 1810 Darby Drive, Florence, Alabama 35630 Web Site: renaissancecityballroom Renaissance City Ballroom, is one of four studios, registered in the State of Alabama, with the DVIDA Ballroom Dance program, and the “only” Certified Ballroom Dance Instructor in the Shoals, Florence, Alabama area. Jean Commerford, is Certified in American Style Smooth and Rhythm, in addition to International Standard and Latin Style Ballroom Dance. Renaissance City Ballroom, also teaches Argentine Tango, Milonga, Argentine Val, and Argentine Fantacia. Latin instruction includes Salsa, Cumbia and Bachata. Certified as an instructor with the British Association of Teachers of Dance, (BATD), North American Dance Committee, (NADC) member, World Dance Sport Federation member, (WDSF), (USA Dance), recognized by the World Dance Sport Federation (WDSF), with the United States Olympic Committee. National Dance Council of America, (NDCA), National Dance Education Organization, (NDEO), American Dance Guild, (ADG), American Alliance for Health and Physical Education Recreation and Dance, (AAHPERD), and USA Ballroom Dance Chapter member. Renaissance City Ballroom, beginning this year, 2013, is offering a week of the “Original Ballroom” Junior Boot Camp for teens and Juniors, age 6-18 years of age. "The Original” Junior Ballroom Boot Camp is not associated with the “Youth Camp“ offered by UNA in Florence. The ‘Original Ballroom” Boot Camp, will include International Ballroom Standard and Latin only! LINE DANCES, will not be part of the curriculum offered to students." “The Original” Junior Boot Camp is a partner dance class exclusively! This year, the “Original Ballroom” will be held on July, 22-26th, Mon-Friday, 12-5 pm. The schedule will include, Ballroom Dance Etiquette, on and off the dance floor, the proper way to ask for a dance, and why it is important to "clap" after dancing with your partner. Dance instruction, and the history of each style of dance, to be instructed that day, will be discussed prior to learning the dance for each day. Dance movies will be provided for entertainment during lunch breaks. Our Friday Night practice party, following Boot Camp Week, will conclude with a BLACK and WHITE Gatsby party, in celebrations of the “Original Boot Camp” week. ALL family members of the students, are encouraged to dress “Gatsby style” as well. This is a “Black and White” Gatsby event in celebration of the closing week of Ballroom Boot Camp. Attire can be all black, all white, or a combination of the two colors together. Dress to impress!!!! Pix will be forwarded to “NOALA” for publication of “The Original” Boot Camp Celebration week event. Light refreshments , mixers, water and coffee, are provided by the studio from 7:30-10:30 pm. You are always welcome to bring your “beverage” of choice as well.
