Renowned journalist Maskwaith Ahsan, in one of his several posts - TopicsExpress

Renowned journalist Maskwaith Ahsan, in one of his several posts on the countrys current political situation today, explained why the government has cordoned BNP chiefs Gulshan office by sand and brick-filled trucks. Mr Ahsan claimed that he has confirmed news that a group of joint Pakistan-Afghanistan Taliban killing squad are already in Bangladesh with a target of killing both the Prime Minister and the BNP chief in Benazir Bhutto style. According to the post, they would do it because they do not like women leadership. I wrote a comment on his post and thought I would share it with my friends here: Dear Maskwaith Bhai, If it is indeed true, the government has miserably failed to make it look like one! Let me explain why: 1) In her televised speech to the nation this evening, honorable Prime Minister (PM) has not mentioned it! Nor has she claimed that the sand-filled trucks are there to safeguard Khaleda Zia from Taliban treats. 2) If security is the main concern, isnt it reasonable for a security provider to communicate the arrangements to the supposed beneficiary of such arrangements? To the best of anyones knowledge, have the security officials, e.g., Police, RAB, DB etc., informed Khaleda Zia of the threat and the related arrangements they have made? 3) Since the killing squad have already entered Bangladesh according to intelligence reports, is it not reasonable to expect the government and security officials to divert their attention to pursue the squad members than rounding her up by sand and brick trucks? 4) If Khaleda Zia is a rational human being, she has no incentive to object to any extra security provided to her, because it would be in her best interest. Disregarding such a treat would tantamount to attempting to commit suicide. 5) According to your post both the PM and Khaleda Zia are targets of the killing squad, so why are the security officials not providing the same level of security to the PM? Are they not risking the security of the PM by not cordoning her residence by similar sand or brick-loaded trucks? This is only an academic debate. I assumed your post to be a serious one and not a sarcastic one! If it was sarcastic, please ignore my comments. Thank you!
