Rented a bike, rode past a huge palace. It has walls about 3 feet thick and a moataround it. I went to one of the gates. I can go in for $10 usd, which I may do when I have access to a camera. I saw some beautiful pagodas (tier-shaped, bell-shaped towers that are usually part of a temple). One of them I walked up 1000 steps, stopping on each level to see a different Buddha statue, where I had a conversation with a monk who wanted to take my picture. The best part of Myanmar so far is the people. They are so friendly. I was at one of the pagodas and a man came up to say hello. (They seem so proud when they say, hello, good morning, in English). He said that the Burmese love foreigners and wanted to know my name and where I was from. He was so sweet and really made me smile. The traditional dress is so interesting. I see families walking, the man in his long wrap around skirtthe woman also in a long wrap around skirt and the women, children, and sometimes men have yellow paint on their faces.
