Rented what my sister Jody calls a Flintstone car and we headed -- - TopicsExpress

Rented what my sister Jody calls a Flintstone car and we headed -- she did the driving, I looked at the scenery -- to Morgantown to see dad in the hospital there. He was quite lively when we arrived at 12:30 p.m. and kept everyone enthralled with his tales including one about the steps of growing old. Hes weak though and needs help to stand. He was sitting in a chair in his step-down room when we walked through the entrance, entertaining his wife Linda with tales. But a move from the chair back into the bed took its toll and he was exhausted. Thats the challenge for him as he recovers at age 87 from a minor heart attack and the flu. Get back his strength and stamina. Sometime in the near future hell be moved from the hospital in Morgantown to one in Marietta, Ohio, where he will undergo physical therapy -- seven days at 3 to 4 hours a day. Obviously it wont be easy and he struggles with anxiety and depression, though medication helps smooth out his mood swings. I told him Id fly back to Ohio/West Virginia in the summer when the Las Vegas weather hovers around 115 degrees and walk with him to the Koffee Kup restaurant in Grantsville where well have lunch -- if he takes up the challenge of getting back his strength and stamina. Im hopeful.... The nurses were nice, giving him the required meds, etc. We were there for six hours in the afternoon and early evening, and saw him moved from the step-down room to a regular room. That was a small victory. ICU... step-down... and now a regular room. We still havent gotten word on when a heart cath will be done to ascertain the extent of damage to his heart. Dads growing old tale has prompted me to post more than one photo this time; instead, itll be a step-down look at a mans good life.
