Rep. Greg Heartsill: Just had a chance to catch my breath. Today I stood and watched somewhat dumbfounded as House Republicans joyfully led the charge to raise taxes on hard working Iowans. As you are all by now aware, HSB 514 passed 5-0 in subcommittee this afternoon to raise Iowas gas tax. And in of all places in the Capitol....Room 19, the Ronald Reagan Committee Room. I’m sure our 40th President would be less than pleased to have a vote taken to raise taxes in a room named after him by Republicans who have seem to have forgotten our party platform of lower taxes and less government.
