Rep wants Rivers CP redeployed PORT HARCOURT – MEMBER of House of Representatives representing Bonny/ Opobo/Andoni Federal constituency, Rivers State, Mr. Dakuku Peterside has joined the call for the redeployment of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu. The lawmaker in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, said it was sad that the Commissioner had left his duties to engage the governor of the state on issues outside his constitutional mandate. Speaking yesterday, he said that the state Police boss recently called the governor unprintable names, adding that it was enough reason for him to be transferred out of the state. Dakoku urged the Police Service Commission to prevail on the Inspector General of Police to heed call for the transfer of the state Police Commissioner, adding that there had been rise in crime in the state, a situation he blamed on the seeming failure of the state Police command. “The IG should withdraw Rivers Commissioner of Police so that we can enjoy peace again in Rivers State. Since he got involved in the internal politics of Rivers State, we have heard that cases of kidnapping, political sponsored violence and other criminal activities have been on the increase,” he said.
