Repairing a water damaged phone: My Tomson left his Samsung - TopicsExpress

Repairing a water damaged phone: My Tomson left his Samsung Galaxy S4 in his swimshorts when he decided to jump into the pool in Turkey. Several minutes later his face fell, and he realised his phone was sitting on the floor of the pool. He retrieved the phone, I removed the battery and we cried. I had a search on the internet for a remedy, and I came across a chemical called isopropanol, which is used to removed moisture and clean circuit boards. To try out the remedy, I bought a large bottle of isopropanol on amazon for about £7 (theres loads left). We placed the phone and battery in a polythene bag and immersed the phone in about 300 ml of isopropanol to ensure it was fully emerged and gave the bag a shake to get all the air out of the phone. We left it in the bag for about seven minutes, then removed it and left it to dry in a plastic box overnight (we actually left it for 20 hours - you would need to make sure it was fully dry). We put the battery back in the phone, powered it on, and it worked :-) If you use this tip and it works for you, as a thank you, please either make a donation to UKIP or to Crohns MAP Vaccine. Thanks.
