Reply to the typical tattoo customer (I just sent this to a guy who mailed back and forth with me for a few days, then said that because he wrote to Jim Parchen and could see that he read it, but Jim didnt have a chance to reply yet, that he is going somewhere else). Enjoy! You are absolutely right. You shouldnt have to leave your house to go talk to an artist in person about a tattoo youre going to wear for the rest of your life. Yeah, and there is absolutely No reason to step out your front door to take a bus and go drop a deposit to the artist of your choice to have them draw up something for you BEFORE you come in to get tattooed. Yeah, all us busy artists will just have time to draw a custom tattoo in three minutes while you wait, like they do on Miami Ink or whatever dumb reality tattoo show you are watching. We dont need a couple days to draw up something nice. And we definitely start working on things without a deposit from someone who just sent us an email, because they were too far to travel 8 miles. When you come in, we will drop everything and all our other customers just to make you happy because, my God! You walked out your front door! Like I said.... Its better to get a price in person. I just really dont get it that people want tattoos, but they wont put in the effort to take a bus or a cab or a plane or something to MEET the artist thats going to put a mark on their body for life. I just dont get it. Good luck to you. I tried to coach you, but you dont want to listen. I can see Ive wasted my time. Now let me go deal with the people who arent too lazy to leave their house to meet with me about their tattoo ideas. Good grief. I think whatever Sharky Avila has, its contagious... Im going to start going off on people like he does.
