Report: Jorge Mendes to help push Manchester United move for Angel di Maria By Dan Cancian at 4:12 pm 03/07/2014 Angel di Maria‘s move to Manchester United is ‘all but done’ according to reports in Spain, with Real Madrid firmly believed to be ready to sacrifice the Argentinian in order to facilitate their pursuit of Colombia’s World Cup star James Rodriguez. Spanish newspaper El Confidencial suggests the Argentine will leave the Bernabeu for a fee of around €50m this summer as Madrid’s president Florentino Perez is determined to make James Rodriguez his latest high- profile signing, 12 months after making Gareth Bale the most expensive footballer on the planet. The Argentine, who was named man of the match in the Champions League final as Madrid finally secured their 10th European crown in May, is represented by Jorge Mendes, one of the most powerful agents in world football and El Confidencial claims he has been instructed to find a buyer for the 26-year-old. Mendes could certainly make a move happen given how strong his United links are thanks to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson and Di Maria has made it clear that he is happy to look at other options this summer on more than one occasion. Currently, United do not have a world class winger in their squad and a host of wide men including Memphis Depay, Juan Cuadrado and Alexis Sanchez have been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer, with Louis Van Gaal thought to be keen to secure at least one top-class winger this summer. Given how impressive Arjen Robben has been under Van Gaal, Di Maria could have a similar impact and his versatility across the front three attacking positions would give Van Gaal some great options.
